THE BENEFACTOR is a quarterly magazine that seeks to bring the discussion to your table. We generally seek answers to questions about art as an American institution, but don't limit ourselves as such; there's certainly a lot to talk about. But you'll see as we release issue after issue with each passing month, that all topics, from weekend flings to farfalle, from a new species of trichomonad to food photography, we can usually bring it home to discuss the art in life, its functions, and the executions thereof.

We have eclectic tastes around the editorial table. The contents of THE BENEFACTOR are experimental, exploratory, unconventional, and not for small children. Contained in this magazine are pieces of art that defy classification, destroy parameters and expectations. Blood and gore of countless dreams oozes and drips over your carpet, your kitchen counter, not able to be held in by mere paper, ink, and cartoons. That said, to give you a rough idea: we have visual art, fiction, essays, poetry, and music, give or take.

And even though we may not exceedingly blow your conventions, forms, and schemas wide open,--because in this day and age, such a task is becoming more standard, and therefore increasingly difficult--we will blow your mind. And even if we don't blow your mind with every utterance documented in these pages,--because we know you're already quite the cosmopolitan conscious awareness--we will blow your hair back. And that will be refreshing, like a sea breeze. That's what you come here for.
